Spikers head into sections

The North Branch volleyball team finished up its regular season with a win over Pine City Oct. 14 and a loss to Hibbing Oct. 15.
Both matches were over in three games. In the win against Pine City, the Vikings won easily, 25-9, 25-8, 25-17. Kaity Vichorek and Rachel Brown had 9 kills each. Katie Paulson had 10 digs and setter Abby Fairbanks had 33 set assists.
The game ended the Vikes conference schedule with a 7-2 record, tied with Chisago Lakes for second place in the RRC.
Hibbing earned the top seed in subsection 7AAA north and looks to make a run at the state tournament. The team defeated the Vikes 25-21, 25-5, 25-16.
ěHibbing came to the match fired up and we failed to match their intensity,î Head Coach Jim Van Eerden said. ěDefensively our teamís blocking and passing was very poor.î
The bright spot in the loss was serving for North Branch, as the team missed only three serves on the night.
The Vikes head into subsection 7AAA south playoffs as the No. 3 seed, facing Foley Oct. 22. The team will look to avenge an earlier season loss to the Falcons.
