Cost of levy is an investment

To the editor:
Any time there is a referendum election, I always hear a lot of conversation about money. People talk about the tax increase and wonder how the district spends its money. In the middle of this discussion, we often lose track of the most important aspect of the operating levy: the kids.
In its decision to schedule the operating levy referendum, the school board was thinking about the kids in the community. They clearly studied the districtís financial situation and determined that the operating levy was the only way to maintain quality schools for our kids. And not only will passage of the levy help our kids, it will also bring great benefits to our community.
We should not think of the tax increase from the operating levy as a ìcost,î but as an ìinvestment.î
By approving the operating levy on Nov. 4, we will be investing in the future of our kids. I plan to vote yes on Nov. 4 and encourage each of you to think of the kids on that day.Ý
