Plans to support levy referendum
To the editor: Passage of the upcoming levy referendum Nov. 4 is of crucial importance. The recent budget cuts currently impacting our local system are seriously affecting the opportunities of our children. Those who say they canít see any difference in school services may not have the first hand experience necessary to make such a claim. I can see the difference now. I know that the quality of service canít be maintained magically with less resources. Successful organizations do make a point to operate efficiently without waste. North Branch Schools have done so over the years as the annual mandated audits have clearly shown. We have already passed the point where reduced resources result in reduced capacity to serve. We cannot afford to pretend that improved return can be harvested without investment. It canít. If this referendum fails, the long-term negative effects will far outweigh the challenge of providing the needed resources now. I will be supporting the referendum with a yes vote. I willingly shoulder the responsibility my parents accepted with such conviction. I ask my fellow residents with children, and those who were once children themselves, to join me.
