Make someoneís holidays brighter

To the editor:

The Holiday Season is quickly approaching. Family Pathwaysí Food Pantries is sponsoring the Holiday Program for local families in need. The Holiday Program consists of Holiday Meals and Adopt-A-Family Programs. Here is how these programs work.

The Holiday Food Program (for Thanksgiving and Christmas) will enable about 600 local families to receive a grocery bag consisting of the following food items: turkey or ham, biscuit mix, boxed potatoes, corn (whole kernel), cranberries, cream of mushroom soup, green beans, frosting (white, vanilla, almond), Jell-o (red or green), pie fillings, pie shells, snack crackers, stuffing, sugar cookie mix, and sweet potatoes. Extra items needed include: French fried onions, marshmallows, pickles and olives.

Any donation you can provide for these food packages would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be dropped off at either location: North Branch Food Pantry (serving northern Chisago County) is located at 6479 Main Street, PO Box 336, North Branch, MN 55056. Hours open: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9 a.m. ñ 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Phone number is (651) 674-8313. The Lindstrom Food Pantry (serving southern half of Chisago County) is located at 12882 1st Avenue North, P.O. Box 947, Lindstrom, MN 55045. Phone number is (651) 257-1308.

The Adopt-a-Family is where you can ìadoptî a family. The family has filled out a form indicating their most needed items worth about $35. We ask the adopter (thatís you) to spend up to $35 per person. If you can afford more, please consider adopting more families.

A form will be printed in the local newspaper, distributed at churches, and county offices. You can also call or stop by your local Family Pathways Food Pantry to pick up a form.

The Holiday Program consists of providing clients in need with a holiday food bag and the Adopt-a-Family Program. Family Pathways is asking for your assistance so that community members (individuals, families and children) can enjoy the holidays.

Even though many of us are able to enjoy celebrating with our family and friends, our local communities have families who are struggling. The holiday season provides an even greater struggle.

Your quick response is greatly appreciated and will make these programs run smoothly. If you have any questions, please call. We look forward to working with you so our neighbors have a special holiday season.
