Skateboarding event a success at NB skate park

The Youth Service Bureau is proud to announce the success of the skateboarding competition held on Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Skate Park in North Branch for youth.
A total of 38 youth gathered to compete in Best Trick and Street Skateboarding Competitions and show off their best moves. Many spectators also braved the chilly weather and wind throughout the day to watch the talent and were not disappointed.
Competitors were given the opportunity to compete in both the Street and Best Trick Competitions held during the day.
In the Street Competition, competitors were given two one- minute runs on the obstacles at the park to show off their talents to the judges.
Competitors were divided into three divisions for the Street Competition, beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
In the Best Trick Competition, each competitor got three chances to show off their best skateboard trick to the judges.
Congratulations to the following competitors for placing in the competition.
In the Street Competition, beginner division; Michael SantaBrigida took first place, second place was James Rainer, and third place went to Andy Marois. In the intermediate division; Pido Estrada took first place, Chad Reeves took second place, and third place went to Ian Hale. In the advanced division; Ryan Wellcome took first place, Jake Gossell earned second, and third place went to Kaleb Hale. In the Best Trick Competition, Brandon Hult took first place, Mark Gilmore took second place, and third place went to Christopher Mohler.
This event would not have been possible without the support of the community and all the businesses that donated time and money for the competition. The Trail Cycle and 3rd Lair Skate Park donated prizes for the winning competitors. The MADD Chapter of Chisago County provided refreshments for the youth.
A sincere thank you from all of us goes out to the following businesses and volunteers who helped to make the skateboarding competition such a successful and memorable experience for all who attended: North Branch Community Education, the City of North Branch, Trail Cycle, MADD Chapter of Chisago County, North Branch Hockey Association, Dominos Pizza, 3rd Lair Skate Park, Judges Jesse Lapinsky, Matt Marche, and Ben Prigge, and the planning committee including Brandon Hult, Roy Swanson, Jake Gossel, Matt Marche, Ian Hale, and Kaleb Hale.
