Daisy E. Lindstrom

Daisy Evelyn Lindstrom, age 93, of Rush City, Minnesota, died Sept. 4, 2003 at the Pine Medical Health Care Center in Sandstone, Minn.
Memorial services were held Monday, Sept. 8, with Pastor Greg Gritz officiating. Organist was Pat Stenmo and soloist was Jan Goebel. Honorary casket bearers were grandsons Mark Lindstrom, Todd Lindstrom, Ernest Kiehn, Scott Kiehn, Richard Kiehn and Steve Kiehn. Interment was at the Free Mission Cemetery in rural Rush City. Arrangements were by the Funeral & Cremation Service of Rush City, Minn., Olson Chapel.
She was born Oct. 20, 1909 in Harcourt, Iowa. The daughter of Victor and Hulda (Johnson) Larson, she was the fifth child of ten born into the Larson family.
Daisy grew up in Harcourt and attended school there. She had completed most of the 10th grade when it was decided that she was needed to work at home. This was often the custom in those days, and her formal education was ended.
In 1930, Daisy was united in marriage to Elmer Lindstrom of Rush City, Minn. They made their home on a farm located a few miles northwest of town; living there until the time of Elmerís death in 1969.
Daisy enjoyed making quilts, and pursued that hobby until the age of 80. She was employed as a housekeeper for Henry Sommer of Rush City; working for him for a period of 13 years.
Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her stories from the past and advice for the future will be a part of them forever.
Daisy is survived by her daughters: Lois Renfro of San Diego, Calif. and Margaret Kiehn of Moose Lake, Minn.; her son and daughter-in-law: Gerald and Barbara Lindstrom of Pine City, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister: Ellen Bjorklund of Cedar Falls, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Hulda Larson; her husband, Elmer; grandson, Karl Kiehn; great grandson, Dirk Kiehn; five sisters, and three brothers.
