NB volleyball rebounds with two wins
The North Branch volleyball squad evened up its record at 2-2 with a pair of wins last week. ìWe had two matches that were very close,î Head Coach Jim VanEerden said. ìThey could have gone either way, but we were able to hang on and come out on top.î The key to winning the match against Irondale, he said, was an incredible third game. The teams exchanged points all the way to the 30 points mark befor North Branch finally put two rallies together to get to 32. ìKaity Vichorek really stepped us up by keeping the ball in play,î VanEerden said. The Vikes fell in the first game of the match 25-12, took the second 25-13, the third 32-30 and won the match with a 27-25 win in the fourth game. Against Chisago Lakes Sept. 4, the Vikes lost the first game 25-22 and came back to win the next three, 25-21, 28-26 and 25-20. ìI was proud of how our team hung together,î VanEerden said. ìOnly seven errors were commited out of 101 serves.î Jenny Anderson came up with 7 blocks in the game and forced several errors.
