Hwy. 8 will be closed for storm sewer, bike trail construction

The construction of a storm sewer box culvert and a bike trail underneath Highway 8 in Chisago City will begin at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, and run continuously through Saturday, Sept. 13, weather permitting.

Highway 8 will be closed between East Street and the Faith Assembly Church/ Chisago County Development Center. The posted detour will route traffic north to County Rd. 77, east to County Rd. 19 and south to County Rd. 14 before returning to Highway 8.

The construction of the box culvert will improve current drainage capabilities in the area and the bike trail will allow bicyclists to travel between Chisago Lake and Wallmark Lake. Advance warning signs were posted on Aug. 22 to alert motorists to the road closure.

Mn/DOT urges motorists to drive with caution, reminding them to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
