NB tennis plays close matches

The North Branch girls tennis team came away with 1 win and 1 loss after outings last week, heading into the start of the school year.

On Aug. 25, the team held close to Forest Lake in most of the games, despite a losing score of 6-1. ěMany matches went to a tie-breaker or the girls came close to a win but could not close the deal,î first-year Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt said.

The team turned it around for a 4-3 win over St. Francis Aug. 26, sweeping singles play and earning a win at No. 1 doubles.

Picking up wins were: singles- Shannon OíHern, Maren Anderson and Kelsey OíHern and doubles- Brooke Chambers and Felicia Dehart. In both matches, Danielle Sonnenfeld played at No. 4 singles, while the doubles teams were: No. 2- Chantell Sampson and Nicole Granberg, No. 3- Jessica Johnston and Amber Heilig. Katie Satterlund played an exhibition match.

This week, the squad hosted Mora Tuesday and travels to White Bear Lake Monday.
