Evelyn Nellie L. PreislerEvelyn Nellie Leone Preisler (Oberg) age 78, of North Branch, died Aug. 21, 2003. A celebration of Eveyís life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday Sept. 6, at United Methodist Church, 6500 Main Street, between 5th and 6th street in North Branch. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. She was preceded in death by husband George. She is survived by sons Michael (Mary) of Rush City and Randall (Merry) of St. Paul, daughter Gloria Preisler of North Branch; grandchildren Ben (Heidi), Amanda, and Nick, brother Clayton Oberg, sisters, Alice Ferl, Betty Wicgand, and Katie Jenson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Evey was born at St. Croix, Wisc. hospital on May 4, 1925. She was the daughter of Nellie Panola Newlander and Albert F. Oberg of Lindstrom, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Lindstrom. She graduated from ìChi Hiî (Chisago Lakes High School) along with future husband George in 1943. She was a bedside attendant at Northwestern Hospital for a year. She then became the main ìColoristî for the Photo Reflex Studio at the Golden Rule, which involved painting by hand with oils to turn a brown and white photo to color. She married George Richard Preisler on Aug. 9, 1947 in the church in Milaca, Minn. where her brother served as pastor. She and George had three children. She joined the Methodist church when they moved to North Branch in 1949, and became very active in it as Sunday School teacher, UMW President, Jr. Choir Director, Music Chairman, Youth Fellowship leader, Choir and Trio, Childrenís Church League Chairman, Conference Lay Delegate, Circle Chairman, Church Building Committee, and NBC Puppet Ministry. She got a very special ministry called ìCradle Rockingî started at the North Branch and Cambridge churches in which the babies are welcomed into the congregation by being rocked and sung to during the service. She was also the Flower Chairman for 43 year.s, keeping the sanctuary supplied with fresh flowers, many of which came from her own garden. Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and the VFW were also part of Eveyís younger volunteering. Gardening and flowers, beautiful scenery, and especially children were some of her favorite things. She supplied quite a few cookies to the latter...little children AND big children. She stated, ìIím looking forward to seeing my Lord in Paradise. Itís a wonderful, glorious, and awesome thought, and I can hardly wait.î ©ECM Post Review |
