The Rush City council preliminarily approved a plan to build a bowling alley and new repair shop behind the Main Street Market.

Resident and businessman Jerry Schellbach received approval from the council on his plat for the ventures at Monday nightís council meeting.

Schellbach told the council he planned to begin construction as soon as possible.

Access to the lot, located just to the north east of the Main Street Market and directly north of TJ Koolyís restaurant, would be from behind the Main Street Market.

The plat was accepted by the council on the condition that the cityís engineer examine the plan and approve it also.

At the April 26 meeting, the council also approved requests for tax board of review changes.

Two businesses were granted lower valuation after the Chisago County assessorís office reviewed the requests.

TJ Koolyís had requested a review and the valuation of the property was lowered from $195,600 to $181,800.

The mini storage owned by Al Metcalf was lowered in value from its original $217,100 for two buildings and land to $174,100 for the package.
Sunday liquor hours will be discussed at a public hearing next month. The Rush City Eagles club asked the council to consider changing the current noon sale hour to 10 a.m. Brookside Golf Course also has joined the petition.

The public hearing will be May 10 at 6:45 p.m. during the city council meeting.

Another public hearing also was scheduled. The hearing must be held on an annexation request by Delores Mold to bring about 68 acres near the airport and off CR30 into the city.

Mold plans to sell the land to developer Dan Birdsall of Forest Lake.

The request must have a public hearing because according to state law, any annexation request over 60 acres must have and open process with the Rush City Town Board.

That hearing will be May 10 at 7:05 p.m.
