Good shot wins year pass to Falcon Ridge

Posted: 8/11/04

Jay Janke, the winner of the closest to the pin contest at Falcon Ridge Golf Course earned himself a one-year free golf pass when his shot landed as the winner. Janke was playing at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Stacy during the courseís grand re-opening party for Hole #6.

The hole, which had become the downfall of many golfersí handicaps on the course, was realigned, made less sloping and had a hazard added. Falcon Ridge Golf Course donated a 2005 single-season pass. Janke used an 8-iron to hit the ball within three feet of the hole.

The hole was playing 156 yards. Jankeís shot was so great the ball landed only one inch from the cup on the fly; almost an ace. More than 300 golfers tried their best in the Saturday, Aug. 1, contest with several golfers coming within inches of the hole. Falcon Ridge Golf Course owner Patrick Smith and staff also wanted to thank the many golfers who donated $5 at the hot dog cook-out at Hole #6.

The money raised went toward helping out Chisago County Deputy Ron Butcherís family. The donation totaled $500 with another matching $500 from Falcon Ridge.
