Walker is consistent, caring leader

To the editor:

For the past eight years I have been employed as a youth minister at a church in North Branch.ÝOne day a very familiar person came to pick up her child from religious education class. It was my life-long friend Lora Walker. Imagine my surprise that we had attended the same church for years without even bumping into one another. What a busy world in which we live.

I mention this because over the years Loraís demonstrated to my family and many others her credibility, integrity, honesty and respectfulness.Ý

I know sheís a consistent, caring community leader and that the decisions she makes truly are taking into account the best interest, overall, for the residents of Chisago County.

Our county, from just 1990 to 2000, grew by over 10,000. We all see and feel the everyday effects of rapid large developments. Weíre continuously being asked to pay more for new schools, new roads, road improvements due to high traffic use and higher cost for social services, just to name a few. Local policy issues continue to be debated about how much development can reasonably occur each year without bankrupting us all.

Letís say a big thank you to elected leaders like County Commissioner Lora Walker who obviously realized the importance of this very issue and took steps to re-evaluate just how our growth impacts our livability.ÝShe has done what she promised. I encourage everyone I know to vote in the primary election Sept. 14 for Commissioner Walker.
