Family to Family education classes are a 12-week class designed for families who have a loved one with a brain disorder (mental illness) or concerned citizens interested in learning about brain disorders.
The curriculum focuses on what brain disorders are and the clinical treatment of them. You will also learn skills and knowledge to cope more effectively with your loved one. The class is meant to give hope and support.
Classes are taught by trained NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) family members who volunteer in a team teaching approach.
There is no fee, but registration is required with a limit of 20 people. Classes are offered twice a year. The first session runs Sept. 14-Nov. 30 and is held at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City from 7 p.m to 9:30 p.m. For information, call Bob or Diane Linngren at (651) 257-3808.
