The bicentennial of the North West Company Fur Post will be celebrated at its annual fall gathering Sept. 18 and 19, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Costumed re-enactors will set up camp for the weekend and re-create a fall gathering of American Indians and fur traders preparing for winter fur harvest.
Visitors can watch as participants test their strengths and wits while vying for the title of best all-around voyageur, enjoy the crisp air and bright colors of the fall season, listen to traditional music and participate in hands-on activities for families.
A festive dance at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday will be a highlight of the weekend.
Cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for children 6-12 and free under 6.
The North West Company Fur Post is a Minnesota Historical Society site located just west of Pine City along County Road 7. For information, call (320) 629-6356.
