Girls from Junior Girl Scout troop #2692 earned the Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve.
They worked on many badges, the Sign of the Star and the community service project. The girls volunteered at the Northwoods Humane Society in Forest Lake from January to June.
They walked and brushed the dogs, cuddled kittens, cleaned cages and helped with the laundry. They collected items from the shelterís wish list such as dry kitten food, cleaning supplies and office supplies. The girls thank all the other troops who helped out with donations.
The troop also helped at Northwoodís annual Walk with the Animals 2003 and their annual spaghetti dinner.
ìThis was a very good year for us,î said troop leader Lisa Munns. ìThe girls worked very hard at Northwoods but they also had a lot of fun. The best part was watching the interaction between the girls and the cats and dogs. The animals received love and understanding, and in turn the girls learned life lessons in compassion and responsibility.î
