A drainage pond that was dug recently near the Main Street Market will be examined by the city to make sure that it is the correct size.
At the July 26 council meeting, Glenn Kuhlman, who owns TJ Koolyís sub and ice cream shop, asked the Rush City council to consider looking into the size of the hole.
He said he is concerned that the hole, which abuts his businessís property, may be a hazard.
The pond is being installed to serve underground runoff from a new car wash and bowling alley being built nearby.
He also was concerned that the hole may be too big and it may impede possible future expansion projects for the parking lot of his restaurant.
Kuhlman said he supports the bowling alley and car wash construction plans and thinks they will be good for the city, but he wants to make sure that there will be no future problems from the drainage pond.
City Administrator Daniel Hoffman said he would look into the matter.
Also at the meeting, the council approved a minor subdivision for the the Lindstrom and Rumpel properties.
Instead of two larger pieces of property, three pieces will be made to allow the Lindstroms to retain their home property and still allow the rest of the property to possibly be developed in the future.
The council also accepted, with no comments from the public, the annexation petition from Delores Mold.
Mold requested that the city annex the remaining 23 acres that were not annexed recently when a large portion of the Mold property was annexed near the Rushseba Town Hall.
To clean up a previously outstanding issue with the end of the fiscal 2003 transactions, the council approved five transfers or actions including reducing the transfer from the liquor store fund, budgeted at $20,000, to $1,000; transferring money from the general fund to the public works fund and closing a 1994 improvement bond because it was paid off.
ìWe had budgeted rather conservatively and there were added revenues and less expenses than we budgeted,î Hoffman said.
The council also was reminded that the final airport zoning public hearing would be held Monday, Aug. 2 at the Rush City High School library starting at 6 p.m. with time to examine maps and ask questions, followed at 7 p.m. with a public meeting.
The council also approved paying $67,386.58 in bills.
