Parents and students in the North Branch school district should mark their calendars for these important fall sports dates.
The high school pre-season meeting for parents and athletes will be Tuesday, Aug. 10 at
7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Girls tennis, volleyball, football, girls soccer, boys soccer (grade 7-12), girls and boys cross country running (grades 7-12), cheerleaders (grades 9-12) and middle school girls tennis should meet this day.
Opening day for these activities is Monday, Aug. 16.
All high school winter and spring sports athletes and their parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.
The middle school fall sports meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. in the middle school south gymnasium.
Seventh and eight graders participating in volleyball, football and girls soccer should attend this meeting. Volleyball and football begin Monday, Aug. 30. Girls soccer begins Tuesday, Sept. 7. All seventh graders need to have a physical before being cleared for practice.
Fifth and sixth graders are not included in middle school athletic activities.
Fees for the 2004-2005 school year are:
High school athletics: $75, third sport is half price;
Middle school athletics: $45, third sport is half price;
High school fine arts: $45, third activity is half price;
Middle school fine arts: $35, third activity is half price;
Middle school students competing at the high school level pay the high school fee.
Combined activities (7-12) include girls golf, girls hockey, girls gymnastics, boys soccer and boys tennis.
All student athletes are reminded to have a current physical on file in order to participate.
A physical is good for three years.
The area clinics sponsor special sports physical screenings. Call them for details.
Ticket prices for 2004-2005 athletic events are: $5 for adults, or $50 for a 20-punch card. Student prices are $3 or $30 for a 20-punch card.
Punch cards are good for all events and may be used for more than one person.
