To the editor:
I am a resident of Lent Township. I would like to thank my Chisago County commissioner, Lora Walker, for her service on the Chisago County Board of Commissioners. I also appreciate that she is willing to seek re-election to a second term. I know that being a county commissioner is not always a fun job to have, but I appreciate Lora Walkerís willingness to serve our community in this way.
Lora Walker brings a thoughtful approach to county spending and budgeting. Her county board colleagues recognized her prudent financial leadership by appointing her to the Chisago County Budget Committee. Also, Lora was unanimously elected vice chair of the County Board for 2004.
Being a leader takes more than caution, it takes courage. Courage is what Lora Walker showed when she led the board in making spending cuts proactively at the beginning of 2003. Lora supported these spending cuts even though there were people suggesting caution because some people hoped that the state would not cut the countyís funding. The State did make the cuts and because of Lora Walkerís swift action, no county employees were laid off.
I encourage my neighbors and friends to re-elect County Commissioner Lora Walker.
