Tigers scorch Rivers Christian Academy

By Cynthia Scott

Just about everything that could have gone right for the Rush City girls hoopsters did go right on Nov. 23, as they opened their season with a 61-21 trouncing of Rivers Christian Academy of Elk River.

The Tigers shot 54 percent from two-point range while holding RCA to no more than six points in any quarter. Their relentless defense resulted in 37 RCA turnovers.

The Tigers were led by senior Breann Stottler, who finished with 24 points and shot a sizzling 64 percent of her two-point attempts. And that was in three quarters, since Coach Stuart Lang did not play Stottler in the fourth.
Stottler was all over the court, and managed 10 steals, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in addition to her 24 points.
Becky Kemen also shot at a torrid pace, adding 12 points on 6 of 9 two-pointers.

Amber Hoffman led the Tigers in rebounding with 5. In addition to Stottler, Jamie Prettner and Brittany Wendorf also snagged 4 boards apiece.
