To the editor:

Another chapter of my life concludes at the end of this month. It has been a privilege to serve the citizens of North Branch for the last 10 years as a city council member.
I want to thank all of you who supported me by your votes during the three elections I was a candidate for councilor.

I also want to thank all the individuals who gave me words of encouragement and verbal support on several difficult issues that the council had to make.

It has been an interesting and enjoyable journey. North Branch is no longer a small village but a city which is beginning to meet many of the needs of our residents, such as housing, adequate water and sewer services, improved roads, an effective public works department and a police department which provides safety and security. The city has also made a good start in providing good jobs for our citizens.

There have been frustrations along the way. The most discouraging one is not constructing a new bridge over the freeway. We are closer, but have not received word when funding and construction will begin. The slow pace and the many obstacles that prevent things from becoming a reality when they are needed is an ongoing frustration. As with every organization, there are many services, facilities and amenities that are needed or wanted but the limited finances prevents the city from providing these.

I make my departure knowing that the city is in good hands. I am very proud of all of our staff, their commitments, work ethic, abilities, talents, loyalty and the tasks they have accomplished.

I wish the council much success in their endeavors and encourage them to continue to investigate all sides of an issue, listen to the citizens of our city and make good decisions that will have a positive effect on our city for many years in the future.
