First District County Commissioner Lora Walker came close to tears at the Dec. 15 county board meeting.
It was all the nice words that constituents were saying that moistened her eyes.

Having lost her bid for re-election this year, Walker participated in one of her last board meetings last week.
Kind words of praise came from Barbara Burrington, Verna Hoppe and Theresa Furman, all of North Branch. They especially thanked her for her work in getting new libraries built.

Said Burrington, ìit will be difficult to fill your shoes.î

East Central Regional Library director Bob Boese also thanked Walker, as well as the other commissioners, for their pursuit of new libraries in Chisago County.

More accolades for Walker came from Don Waller, Dann Adair, Jean Dexheimer and Jeremy Kalin.
The library very issue was big among those speaking of Walkerís work, which included thanks from Jackie Larson of the Friends of the North Branch Library and from NB Library librarian Sue Monroe.

Saying she was very humble by the kind words, Walker thanked the people.
Walkerís chair will be filled by Lynn Schultz in January.
