16 people needed to donate

To the editor:

Due to lower than usual birdseed sales this fall, Wild River Audubon is experiencing our first budget crunch. Because of this, we may not be able to bring Audubon Adventures (AA) into 21 Chisago and Isanti county elementary classrooms this year ... unless people act quickly.

The good news is that Recycling For Wildlife (located 1/2 mile south of Harris on County 30, (651) 674-7268, open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, recycling tires, appliances, electronics and aluminum and donating aluminum can proceeds to Wild River Audubon for the past few years) has just made a $250 donation to our chapter in addition to donations from the proceeds on the sale of aluminum cans they have recently made.

So what does this mean? If 16 people each donate $41.50 (the cost of AA for one classroom), that will cover the $896 needed to bring this yearís nationally acclaimed environmental education activities into area classrooms. If you are able to help out, please contact Sue Leaf (651-257-6044) or Gary Noren (651-214-1965) or send donations directly to our treasurer: Kim Pittsley, 28110 Nathan Lane, Lindstrom, MN 55045. Thank you and thanks to Recycling For Wildlife!

Gary Noren, Audubon Adventures Coordinator
