Anonymous Santa is local program for local people

Donations coming in slowly

Posted: 12/8/04

Anonymous Santa is a local holiday program accepting donations that are distributed in our local communities.

Christmas is quickly approaching and so is the deadline for donating toys and gifts to Chisago Countyís Anonymous Santa project. According to project coordinators, donations are coming in slowly. At the beginning of this week applications for help were still coming in and it appears the need for community support will be great. Monetary donations would also be greatly appreciated.

Some suggestions for new, non-violent gifts include:

New, warm clothing items such as hats mittens, socks, sweat shirts and sweat pants. Each child is given a pair of mittens and a hat.

Other ideas: blankets or sleeping bags.

Educational items such as games, puzzles, books and toys. Christian books or videos.

Gifts for teenagers such as hand held games, radios, personal CD players, sports team jerseys, jewelry, personal care items.

Christmas wrapping paper, tape, gift tags.

Gift certificates from area businesses, including Tanger Outlet Center, the bowling lanes, theater and other stores.

The greatest area of need is gifts for the 7-11 age group.

Donations may be made at local banks, churches and businesses that are hosting a toy collection box.

The gift distribution is scheduled for Dec 13-14 however ìChristmas with dignityî will provide gifts to families until Christmas day and we accept donations all year round. If you need toys picked up, call (651) 583-3121.

Look for coin collection tubes in local business and add your extra change to this project to help make a childís holiday brighter.

If you wish to donate money for this project ñ checks may be sent to Anonymous Santa, P. O. Box 901, North Branch, MN 55056.

Money donated to the project will be used purchase gifts and warm clothing items as needed. This is an all-volunteer project, 100 percent of all money collected is spent on this project. Monetary donations are accepted any time during the year as shopping is done year round.
