Myrtle H. SturmerMyrtle Hattie Sturmer passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge at the age of 93 years. The daughter of William and Bell (Sybrant) Schweigert, she was born Dec. 16, 1910 in Rushseba Township. She was confirmed at St. Johnís Lutheran Church on Aug. 9, 1942. At that time the church was located on East Rush Lake in Nessel Township of Chisago County, and since has been relocated in Rush City. On November 23, 1934, Myrtle was united in marriage to Harold F. Sturmer at Pine City. They purchased the family farm from Haroldís parents in 1944 and continued the farming operation themselves until 1955. In 1960 they acquired a Dairy Queen franchise and enjoyed a very successful business that they operated for six years. After selling the Dairy Queen, Myrtle and Harold built a home near Cambridge. They lived there until moving to the Sunrise Apartments, and in 1996 retired to Happy Tracks Assisted Living in North Branch. In October of 2003 they became residents of the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. Myrtle was survived by her husband, Harold of Cambridge; sister-in-law: Lucille Ekstrand of Rush City; brother-in-law: Roy Hansen of Viborg, SD; nephew: Danny Fox and family; nieces: Tammy Longworth and family, Mary Krebak and family, Georgia Dekeyser and family, Steven (Shirley) Hansen, Gloria (Louis) Larson; several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bell Schweigert, and her brothers, Howard Fox and Guy Schweigert. A memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 5, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Rush City with the Reverend Steve Tischer officiating. Music was provided by organist Dick Scheele and soloist Jon Scheele. Urn bearer was Louis Larson. Interment will be at St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery near Rush City during the spring 2004.
