Forfeits contribute to Tigersí lossThe Rush City squad came into its match against North Branch knowing it would be a challenge to win a meet with two forfeits. The Tigers fell to the Vikings 41-21 Feb. 3. With forfeits at 215 lbs. and heavyweight, Head Coach Kevin Jensen knew the Tigers would have an uphill battle. After Jake Welna, 103 lbs., and Nick Potter, 112 lbs., were pinned, it was difficult for the team to recover, especially with the two forfeits to end the match. ěItís hard to make up 24 points,î Jensen said. The highlight of the match was Tim Allerton, who pinned Greg Arnt for his 60th career win. At 140 lbs., Adam Morris put forth a tremendous effort, falling 8-6 in the third period despite wrestling on a sprained ankle. Earning wins for Rush City were Richard Marohn, 119 lbs, won by pin; Allerton, 130 lbs.; Matt Wuorinen, 135 lbs., won by decision; Mackenzie Johnston, 160 lbs., won by decision and Mike Wuorinen, 171 lbs., won by decision. ěIt was a tough dual meet,î Jensen said. ěEven with injuries North Branch wrestled very well. We didnít match up well in the middle weights.î The Tigers went on to defeat Ogilvie 51-24 Feb. 5. For the second time in two matches, a Rush City wrestler earned his 60th career winÝń this time it was Marohn at 119 lbs., winning in the first period by pin. The Tigers were scheduled to take on Chisago Lakes Tuesday and will take part in the Great River Conference tournament Fri., Feb. 13 at Ogilvie.
