Senator urges caucus attendance

To the editor:
Tuesday evening March 2 is the date for Minnesotaís precinct caucuses, and I urge all residents to participate. The caucus system in Minnesota is a process which truly allows the average citizen to have a grassroots impact on our electoral and political process.
Everyone can attend a caucus, and anyone who will be eligible to vote by election day can participate and vote during the caucus proceedings. The caucuses allow citizens to voice their thoughts and opinions on any number of issues, and literally start the process of deciding who our candidates will be in the fall elections. The process for selecting everyone from state representatives all the way up to the President of the United States, begins in Minnesota on March 2.

Regardless of political affiliation, I encourage everyone to take time to attend your precinct caucus. This is one of the best opportunities we have as citizens, for a direct impact on the issues and leaders to be showcased in the elections this fall.
Most political parties will publish their caucus location during the last week of February, but you can also find your caucus location by contacting the County Auditorís office. They will be able to tell you your caucus location.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your State Senator. It is an honor and a privilege to represent the residents of District 17, and Iím proud of the work we have accomplished together so far.

Sean Nienow
Senator, Dist. 17
