Rush City takes tough loss from MaranathaThe Rush City boys basketball team must have been of their game in a bad way on Jan. 26 when the team traveled to Maranatha Christian Academy in Brooklyn Park. The non-conference match-up ended with the Tigers limping home after a devastating 73-30 loss. ìWe got off to a terrible start getting outscored 26-6 in the first quarter,î said Head Coach Gary Dreissig. The team scored 12 to Maranathaís 16, ending the half with a score of 42-18. The second half brought hope for the Tigers, but soon that too was dashed as Maranatha proceeded to repeat the first quarterís pattern by outscoring the Tigers 15-6. ìThe game was very similar to our Braham game as we were beaten by a team that was ñ plain and simple ñ a lot better than us,î Dreissig said. For the Tigers, Tim Karnick led scoring by landing 9 points. Brent Freeman was not far behind, shooting 75 percent on 2-pointers for 6 points. Kris Guentzel contributed four points for the team while Jerred Neslon brought three to the effort. Kevin Bengston, Andrew Kaufmann, Tony Webb and Jeff Jennings added two each. The Tigers were scheduled to play at Isle on Tuesday night. Isle could come looking for a tough game because of the win the Tigers took from them earlier this season. ©ECM Post Review |
