Agnes Lucille Zillmer

Agnes Lucille Zillmer, of Almelund, passed away at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. on Jan. 1, 2004, surrounded by her family and loved ones, at the age of 69 years, one month and 24 days.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 5, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund, Minn. with Rev. Brian Bergin officiating. Music was performed by Pat Remer and Norman Peterson and lunch provided by Service Group 3. The casket bearers were the seven oldest grandchildren and honorary bearers included: Harland Olson, the Almelund Lions, Dean Loucks, Bruce Hoppe, Ellie Olson, with the interment at the Almelund Cemetery. Arrangement were handled by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.

Agnes was born on Nov. 8, 1934 at home in Dairyland, Wisc., to Martha (Amborn) and Henry Sauerbrey. She was one of 21 children and attended school in Frederic and Webster, Wisc.

On Aug. 15, 1953 in Markville, Minn., she married Bert Arthur Zillmer from Danbury, Wisc., and spent most of their 50 years of marriage together in Almelund, Minn. They enjoyed going to dances, playing cards, growing gardens and spending time with their family and friends.

After many years of raising her children she returned to the workforce as a teacherís aide at Almelund Elementary School and a nurseís aide at C & NC in Chisago Lakes Hospital for 15 years. Since her retirement she has been active in her community and church doing numerous volunteer projects and baking. She collected many things but she took great joy in her salt and pepper shakers and cardinals.

Agnes was preceded in death by her daughter Sherrie Lynn, parents, brothers: John (Roy), George (Todd Steinberger) and Harold, sisters: Dorothy Pedersen and Deloris Miller.

She is survived by her loving husband Bert and four children: Ron (Cindy) of Foley, Minn.; Debbie (Bruce) of Stacy, Minn.; Toni (friend Ed) of St. Croix Falls, Wisc.; Joey (Annette) of Frederic, Wisc.; grandchildren: Greg, Kristi, Eric, Michele, Brett, Zac, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Lindsey and Ronnie and one great-grandson Jacob; 15 brothers and sisters and their spouses as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
