OpinionMiddle class, the forgotten peopleTo the editor: I really donít know which way to address my many concerns about the ěterrible threeî sitting on their high perches looking down at us. They must take us for morons and believe they know whatís best for us, and so theyíll do all our thinking for us. Or, maybe they donít care how much money we do or donít have, because it doesnít matter, theyíre going to get it from us through ělegalized theft.î You have to admit, it was a ěfastî one they pulled on us concerning the libraries. Six and a half million dollars to them is pocket change.ÝIsnít it ironic that they know how best to spend our money and we donít get to say (by voting) if we want to give our money for these ěterriblyî needed libraries. Oh, stupid me, I forgot, they had a committee study this matter and that was their recommendation, if I remember correctly.ÝLetís not forget the parents who want to spend our money on their kids. Itís not as though the schools donít get enough of our money already, but, thatís another story.Ý The parents canít come to our houses and say, ěgive me your money because I want to spend it on my kids.îÝSo they go to the government, in this case, the County Commissioners, and tell them to take it from us. But, wait, the ěterrible threeî know whatís best for us, and they know how big of a raise I did or didnít get, or maybe that doesnít matter to them (which obviously it doesnít) because again, they know how best to spend the stolen taxpayers money.Ý Donít they know that the cost of food, gas, insurance and clothing, to just mention a few needed things in life, have gone up? Ý Now the ěterrible threeî have expanded their vast knowledge to the environmental concerns of the earth and are going to impress us with their wisdom in this area.ÝOf course one of the commissioners says thatÝseveral concerned citizens (who must have voted for her, and how many is several) say they were worried about erosion and run off into the rivers.ÝDoesnít matter if these concerns citizens owned property, or not, along the river(s).ÝItís nice to know that even if you donít own the property, you can still control it through your wonderful government representatives.ÝLooks like this decision might backfire on them though. Some ěother concerned citizensî are speaking up.ÝEspecially how this little sweetheart deal was handled so quickly. People of Chisago CountyÝWAKE UP!ÝThe ěterrible threeî are going to tax and control us right out of our homes.ÝIt appears that only two of the five commissioners have the only common sense left.Ý But, the ěterrible threeî are ganging up against them and these three donít care how much money you have in your wallet. Iíll tell you one more thing they donít care about, and thatís the middle class people who have limited income. Now I know why people contribute to candidates who they canít vote for in the elections.ÝI donít have a lot of money, for several obvious reasons, but Iím going to help as much as I can to get Robinson and Gustafson re-elected, if they decide to run again. Iím going to take an interest in who campaigns against the ěterrible threeî and contribute to them, if they have any common sense.ÝIt is proving to be cheaper to contribute voluntarily to campaigns for the right people, then to have the wrong people perform ělegalized theftî of our money.Ý P.S.ÝDonít misunderstand me about kids. They are important.ÝBut, some of the parents have to realize that if you keep putting ěkids firstî then the little sweethearts become spoiled and then want do you have?ÝIf you want to always have the best for your kids, fine, but you pay for it.ÝIf you canít afford it, then donít get it.ÝAnd, donít ask the government to steal it from me.
