Remove Gustafson from board
To the editor: The Chisago County commissioner for Chisago Lakes, Robert Gustafson, pretends to be a penny-pinching Republican on public policy. In reality he has wasted public resources without, to date, rendering any public account. A single case in point is Gustafsonís involvement in the East Central Solid Waste Commission which has devoured some $15 million on a compost boondoggle during Gustafsonís term on the commission. Last fall voters in Chisago County indicated finally that Gustafsonís former colleagues on the board were undesirable and their policies discredited when two incumbent commissioners were un-elected. A new board majority was formed after the 2002 election committed protecting public resources from the waste the old boardís had approved. Following that mandate, the new board must remove Mr. Gustafson from his seat on the East Central Solid Waste Commission before he exposes the county to even more damages by his votes on that commission during this year which is expected to be Gustafsonís last year in office, last chance to harm the public.
