Ethel M. AndersonEthel Minerva Anderson, 90, of Cambridge, died Jan. 7, 2004, at Cambridge Medical Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 10 at Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Erling Tungseth officiating. The Abrahamson Sisters, accompanied by Darlene Fixell provided the special music. Organist was Mary Kay OíNeill. Pallbearers were Jerol, Gregg, Lucas, Jeremy and Austin Anderson and Robert Lundeen. Interment was in the Fridsborg Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge. Ethel was born to Peter and Anna Oslund on March 26, 1913, in Athens Township, Isanti County, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm and attended School District 48. After graduating from the eighth grade she worked for families in Minneapolis. On June 29, 1933, she married Clarence Anderson of Stacy. They farmed there until 1944 when they bought a farm near North Branch. In 1970 they retired from farming and moved to Paulís Lake near Cambridge. They spent several winters in Roswell, New Mexico. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1983. During the past few years Ethel lived at Pine Village and Riverwood, and was now residing at Cambridge Health Care Center. Ethel was a volunteer leader of the Happy Hikers 4-H Club in North Branch for 18 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 30 years, active in Ladies Aid and LCW. She joined Cambridge Lutheran Church in 1975 and was active in church activities there. She was a member of the Golden Agers Senior Citizens Club. Ethel was very active in the Isanti County Historical Society, translating many Swedish letters into English for them and researched old county newspapers. For many years her favorite activity was ìExplore Minnesota.î Her hobbies were crocheting, reading, growing flowers, writing her ìMemoriesî and helped write two family genealogy histories. Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and one baby boy. She is survived by son Sheldon (Laurel) Anderson of North Branch and daughter Eileen Anderson of Duluth; two grandsons, Jerol (Judy) Anderson of Stacy, Gregg (Rita) Anderson of Lino Lakes, and one granddaughter Trudy (Robert) Lundeen of North Branch; and seven great-grandchildren: Lucas, Nicole, Jeremy, Kara, Jade, Austin and Sydney. ©ECM Post Review |
