Tigers earn two more winsThe Tiger girls basketball team earned two wins in the last week, improving its record to 7-3 on the season. Rush City 46 Ogilivie 28 In a Great River Conference matchup Jan. 13, the Tigers were propelled by a 16-point second quarter to defeat Ogilvie 46-28. Despite turning over the ball 24 times, the team battled back with a tough defense. ìIt was an up and down game,î Head Coach Stuart Lang said. Sophomore Heather Dean led the team with 10 points, followed by junior Breann Stottler with 8 and senior Mindy Scott with 7. Rush City 58 East Central 68 The Tigers battled back after a 21-36 halftime deficit to come within 7 of the Eagles Jan. 16, but eventually lost by a 10-point margin, 68-58. ìIt was a well played game by both teams with few turnovers,î Lang said. ìWe played one of our best all around games of the year.î Senior Christine Moore led the squad with 17 points and Scott added 13. Scott dislocated her shoulder late in the game and could be out for the remainder of the regular season. ìWeíll miss her scoring and experience,î Lang said. Rush City 39 Mora 36 The Tigers started this week with an exciting come-from-behind non-conference win over Mora Monday. After falling behind by 10 points midway through the fourth quarter, Rush City came back to narrow the gap, thanks in part to two big three-pointers off the bench from junior Christine Frandsen. Stottler sank two free throws with seconds remaining to seal the win for Rush City. The games improve the Tigersí record to 7-3 overall, 3-3 in the GRC. This week, the team will play Isle Thursday on the road and return home to face Maranatha Monday. ©ECM Post Review |
