Sheriffís squad car totalledA Chisago County Sheriffís Office cruiser was totaled two weeks ago after it was struck by a truck as the deputy responded to another car wreck. A Chisago County Sheriffís Office squad car was parked along the shoulder of Falcon Avenue near CR 17 on Jan. 10 at about 11:28 a.m. in response to a vehicle accident at the site. As Chisago County deputies, state patrol officers and Stacy-Lent volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene of the original crash, one deputyís cruiser was hit by a truck. The truck, driven by an 80-year-old Stacy man, slammed in to the back of the deputyís cruiser with enough force to push the trunk into the back seat, witnesses said. The cruiser jolted forward and struck the rear of a personal vehicle of one of the volunteer fire fighters. The squad car was claimed as a total loss. In related news, the squad car that was wrecked Dec. 16 in a high-speed chase that ended in front of the Oak Inn in North Branch was repaired and recently was put back into use by the Chisago County Sheriffís Office. ©ECM Post Review |
