Applauding county commissioners

To the editor:
There are three county commissioners who we should all be proud of for the first step they made to preserve the county from the private developers determined to make as much personal money for themselves as possible. The Commissioners who should be honored are Lora Walker, Rick Olseen, and Ben Montzka. they are the first commissioners in twenty years who have chosen the public interest over the private drive that has been converting our county into a high-tax, sprawled county, where schools are overcrowded, there is much more traffic, the air quality gets worse, and open spaces and woodland and fields are lost. These three are courageous.
The vast majority of citizens in this county agree with the decision to finally do something for the public good. We know, since we surveyed each and every household in 2000.Finally the County Commissioners are using the legal authority we give them to act on the behalf of the common good and make decisions based on long-term consequences, instead of private short term gain. Letís hope they stay in office for many years to come.
