Two letters bother this writer

To the editor:

In the Jan. 14 Post Review, there were two letters disagreeing with the position that three county commissioners took on a temporary moratorium.
First, the letter that bothered me the most was written by a local real estate agent ñ Stan Jakubowski. Mr. Jakubowski should have put in his article that he belonged to a ìspecial interestî group that benefits from development. If moratoriums occur, then his cash register stops ringing.

Before you jump at the chance to send anyone money to belong to any group ñ check it out. Remember, this is a temporary moratorium at this time.

The second letter, and I donít know if I should even bother, was about the ìTerrible Three.î
Letís get a grip.

First of all, some years back, there was a man by the name of Ralph Nader who suggested we step back and see what was happening to the environment. We only half listened because it wasnít what most of us wanted to hear.

Guess what? He was right.

In our ignorance we have continued down the road and ruined lakes, streams, land, etc.

We are not only paying the price, but your grandchildren and mine will really pay.

Many of you that live in other cities in Chisago County, have criticized North Branch for their poor planning. If past councils had listened, we wouldnít be experiencing the problems we are now. The county is trying to avoid major mistakes.

Again, at this point, this is a temporary moratorium to try to look into the future and anticipate problems that we wonít be able to reverse. Thank God for the ìTerrific Three.î
