NB Dance Team packs stands, is first in high kick

By Danielle Strenke

The North Branch Dance Team continues to submit flawless performances in the high kick category. The North Branch Invite Jan. 15 was no exception, as the Vikings captured first place in the event.

North Branch led a 4-team field in the high kick category, and Head Coach Dianna Linehan said everyone in the packed gymnasium was pumped up.

ěThe crowd was amazing,î she said. ěThe girls were so ecstatic and seeing the crowd just added to it. They were very excited to win.î

The squad also competed with a jazz funk routine that had been learned only one day before. In the jazz funk category, Chisago Lakes took first, Forest Lake was second, Big Lake was third, North Branch was fourth and Roseville was fifth.

This Saturday, the team was originally scheduled to compete at Chisago. That meet was cancelled, so the Vikings will now take part in the Centennial Invite at Centennial High School, Circle Pines. Competition starts at 11:15 a.m.

Next week, the Vikes will be preparing for the annual Winter Carnival dance competition Feb. 7.

The event, held at Irondale High School, featured 75 teams in three divisions last year.
