By Barbara Brown

A Rush City woman died Sunday after her truck slid on icy I-35 south and struck another vehicle which was stopped in the road.

Susan Hebert, 50, of Rush City, was pronounced dead at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center where she was taken after the 1:15 p.m. wreck on Sunday, Jan. 25, according to Kevin Smith with the Minnesota State Patrolís East Metro division.

The crash report showed that a 1999 Chevy Tahoe driven by a man from Forest Lake had stopped on I-35 south, near the CR 10 overpass in Harris, because of slow traffic ahead.

A 1993 Chevy Suburban also was stopped behind the Tahoe on the highway.

The report stated that the 2000 Chevy pickup truck driven by Hebert lost traction and slid sideways into the the Suburban which then slid into the back of the Tahoe, Smith said. A-14-year old passenger, believed to be a relative of Hebert, was in the pickup truck at the time of the crash.

Both passenger and driver were wearing seat belts, Smith said. The 14-year-old girl also was taken to Fairview Lakes for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man from Washington State was driving the Suburban. Inside the truck were a 24-year-old female relative and three children.

Both the adults and a 14-year-old boy in the Suburban had minor injuries. A 19-month-old boy and a 5-week-old boy had no injuries. All the passengers wore seat belts and the babies were in car seats.

The Tahoeís passengers did not have reported injuries, Smith said.
