Bernice Rothenbacher

Bernice Rothenbacher passed away on Friday Jan. 2 2004 at the Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 84.
Rev. Steve Tischer will officiate at funeral services today, Wednesday, Jan.7, at the St. Johnís Lutheran Church of Rush City. An interment will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City. Arrangements by the Funeral & Cremation Service of Rush City ìOlson Chapel.î
Bernice was born on the home farm in Nessel Township on July 25, 1919 to William and Ella Scheele. She attended Rush City High School, graduating in 1937 and was baptized and confirmed at St Johns German Lutheran Church at Rush Lake.
Bernice went on to work at Rush City Frozen Foods for 15 years and the Grant House Hotel for 10 years. She had various waitressing jobs around the areas of Rush City and Braham.
In October 1959, she married Leonard Rothenbacher at Scared Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. Bernice was a member of the fraternal order of Eagles Aerie #2663 of Rush City. She actively helped Leonard farm and helped clerk Leonardís auctions.
Bernice frequently ate lunch at the Rush City Senior Dinning site and loved to play bingo. She traveled anywhere to play Bingo!
Bernice was an avid hunter; traveling to Montana to hunt deer and antelope. On one occasion, she shot all the deer for the entire hunting party. She spent the last three years living at Rush Oaks Apts. in Rush City. Bernice loved all animals; especially dogs and cats.
Bernice is survived by her nephews Larry (Nancy) Scheele of St. Paul, Tony Rothenbacher of Rush City, great nieces and nephews Tim (Corinne) Scheele, Robert (Debra) Scheele, JoAnne Scheele, Laurie (Randy) Miller, all of Rush City, five great-great nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Don (Arlene) Rothenbacher of Rush City and Foster son Larry Koenig.
Preceding Bernice in death are her parents, husband Leonard Rothenbacher, and her brother Les (Inez) Scheele.
