NBHS team will compete at music listening contest

Teams from North Branch High School will compete in the Minnesota High School Music Listening Contest, beginning with a regional competition Jan. 23 at Buffalo High School.
The first and second place teams at each regional contest advance to the state contest, scheduled for Feb. 6 at Augsburg College.
The statewide contest connects high school students with classical music and enhances their ability to identify composers, periods and styles.
Teachers or coaches recruit three students to form a team. Each team member receives a study guide and repertoire compact discs that contain all the musical selections they will need to compete effectively.
This year, there are 80 schools, 230 teams and 700 students participating in the regional contests.
The Music Listening Contest is operated by the Music Listening Board and sponsored by Musictech College, Augsburg College, Unisys Corporation and Minnesota Public Radio.
NBHS team members include: Anders Lundberg, Jed Shanley, Nicole Aufderhar, Bill OíBrien, Quin Shanley, Angie Olsen, Kathleen Lunsford, Jennah Engen, Donny Narow, Candice Lunzer, Becky McAuliffe, Jon Bahnemann, Mary Nyquist, Justin Mahlke and Megan Lindquist.
The team is advised by teachers Renee King and Barry Zumwalde.
