Gloria Florence Martha (Knutson) Stich died July 9, 2004 at the Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake, at the age of 74 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City with Father Xavier Thelakkatt presiding. Music was provided by organist Nancy Sterk, and soloists Paula Belland & Mary Lang. Casket bearers included Gloriaís children. Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City.
Gloria was born in St. Paul on Nov. 2, 1929, to Carl Albert and Florence Martha (Fransen) Knutson. She grew up and attended schools in St. Paul, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1947.
After graduation, Gloria was employed at West Publishing in St. Paul until her marriage to Cletus ìBudî Stich in St. Paul on May 6, 1950. They made their home in St. Paul until 1961, when they moved to a small farm near Rush Lake in rural Rush City.
Gloria was an only child and always wanted a large family. She and Bud had 13 children; losing two at birth. She deeply loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
An excellent cook and avid reader, Gloria loved life and lived it to the fullest. Some of her many other hobbies were canning, fishing, card playing and heated discussions on almost any subject. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling all over the country with Bud to visit their children.
Gloria is survived by her children: William (Linda) Stich of Oregon, Robert Stich of Rush City, Michael (Mary) Stich of Wyoming, Marilyn (Dan) Thielmann of Indiana, Patrick Stich of Lindstrom, Thomas Stich of Shakopee, Cathy Hall of Oklahoma, John Stich of Indiana, Mary Lang of Willow River, Jim Tiseth of St. Paul; and her sonñin-law, Charles Hebert of Rush City.
She is dearly remembered by 28 grandchildren and nine great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, CletusîBudî; her daughter, Susie Hebert; her son, Jim Stich; two infant children; and her grandson, Scott Hebert.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral & Cremation Service~Olson Chapel of Rush City.
