The annual Midsummer festivities will celebrate the 79th year in North Branch.
Starting June 16 and running through June 20, Midsummer offers parents, children and everyone from Chisago County and more the opportunity to take a break from the stresses of life and enjoy lots of fun in the sun.
The American Legion, Post 85, in North Branch hosts the celebration each year. This year is the American Legionís 85th anniversary. The Legion was organized in March 1919 and the first national convention was held in Minneapolis in November of that same year.
The long weekend begins Wednesday with sales at Tanger Outlet Center which last all week.
Starting at 6 p.m.., rides at the carnival in North Branchís Central Park are open to everyone.
Tickets cost $12 for a one-night passes. Advanced tickets for other nights are discounted at 10 for $12. More information about ticket availability is on page two of this weekís Post Review.
Thursday will bring a kiddie parade that has a patriotic theme as well as a family barbecue and music for all.
Friday starts the sidewalk sales at Tanger Outlet Center.
The Midsummer Royalty will be crowned at 7 p.m. under the tent in the American Legion parking lot.

Karaoke will follow the coronation in the American Legion tent.
Satuday brings the Kiddie Midsummer Olympics at 9:30 a.m. at the Legion. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The great fire department water fight will begin at 4 p.m. on 7th Street between Main and Maple. Get there early to get a good, wet seat.
The street dance begins at 8:30 p.m. in the American Legion.
Sundayís highlight is the parade which begins at 2 p.m. and runs along Main Street.
