Taking you back to the days of your youth, LeAnne Gustafson and her daughters, Brittany and DeAndra, will be seen around North Branch this summer in their mobile ice cream store.
Gustafson is bringing back a tradition she remembers as a child in White Bear Lake.
As in the past, the arrival of their ice cream truck ñ colored like raspberry and lime sherbet ñ will be signaled by pleasant tunes as they move slowly along the streets.
The trio started their family business last week. Regular routes have not been established yet, but they hope to soon get into a regular schedule.
They would like to make trips to the Fish Lake beach also. Already their ice cream truck has become popular at evening ball games.
The Scoops truck will travel through the area during late afternoon and evening hours, probably seven days a week, said LeAnne Gustafson.
She has received her license from the state and vendorís permit from the city of North Branch.
The ice cream truck is an old mail truck that was painted and reconditioned inside and out, even to the candy-striped cover on the driverís seat.
From it the Gustafsons will be selling an assortment of pre-packaged ice cream treats including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, pop and bottled water, candy and even some small trinkets.
These items, like ice cream cone keychains, are associated with ice cream, too.
Nothing will cost more than $2. Gustafson said she wants it to be affordable so families can have a cool treat without a high price.
