Caleb W. Nelson

Caleb William Nelson passed away at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City, Minn. on June 15, 2004 at the age of 82 years. He had been admitted there only six hours earlier from the Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, Minn. where he had been a patient for six days.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Harris Covenant Church with the Reverends Neil Bronkoski and Walter Leitze officiating. Music was provided by Jane Erickson, and Jordan-Cai Brooks, Calebís great-granddaughter. Casket bearers were Jim Nelson, Gary Nelson, Don Ramberg, Glen Holmstrom, Curtis Carlson, and Rusty Fletcher. Interment was at the Harris Covenant Cemetery in Harris. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson Chapel, Funeral and Cremation Service, Rush City, Minn.
Caleb, the son of George and Selma (Andersson) Nelson, was born July 22, 1921 on the family farm located a few miles west of Harris, Minn.
Cay, as he was known to his family and friends, lived his entire life on the Nelson farm where he grew up. He attended nearby rural Fish Lake District No. 52 School until he completed the eighth grade, and then began working on the farm with his father.
He had a great love for animals and he enjoyed being outdoors. He especially loved the farm; finally retiring from active farming in December of 1991.
Early in his life, Cay attended Harris Covenant Church in
Harris, Minn., and later attended Fish Lake Lutheran Church near Stark, Minn.
Cay is survived by his wife, Margaret; stepchildren: Robert (Dr. Lori) Lee of Medford, Wisc., David Lee of Harris, Peggy Batten of St. Cloud, Minn., Barbara Ann Lee of Harris; grandchildren: Dhanrajia ěDJî Batten, Justin Lee, William lee, Bobby Lee, Bessie Batten, James Batten, and April Batten; great-granddaughters: Jordan-Cai and Cyrenna Brooks; brother-in-law: Guy (Val) Brooks; sisters-in-law: Mary (Jim) Weeden and Marion Noreen; several nieces, nephews, and cousins both in the United States and in Sweden. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Selma Nelson, and his sister, Edith Nelson.
