Rained out, but thanks anyway

To the editor:
We would like to thank the many volunteers and businesses who contributed their time and support to the Youth Skateboard Competition planned in North Branch for Saturday, May 22. The skate park in North Branch was the venue for the competition, however, the event had to be cancelled due to bad weather. With all of this soggy weather weíve been experiencing, even the rain date provided no escape from the rain.
The competition will be rescheduled for late summer or early fall. Please watch for announcements. We look forward to having you all back for another fun-filled afternoon.
Despite the weather, we had a great turnout. About 35 youths came to participate, coming from North Branch and surrounding communities.
A warm and heartfelt thank you from all of us goes to the following businesses and volunteers who came together for what would have been a very successful and memorable event: North Branch Community Education, North Branch Chamber of Commerce, the city of North Branch, Linda Schille and Hot Spot Skate Shop in Blaine for donating prizes and raffles, John and Kim Barney with the MADD Chapter of Chisago County for providing concessions, North Branch Hockey Association for providing electrical access, Dominos Pizza for advertising the event, Mark Anderson for being on hand to announce the competition and Brandon Hult and Matt Marche for helping to plan the event.
