To the editor:
Why taxpayers, did you know that you support the abortion industry simply by paying your taxes, you are financially supporting Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers in Minnesota. This should be stopped immediately.
Every year, the abortion industry petitions the state Legislature for more money, and this year will be no different. The state of Minnesota awards millions of our tax dollars in family planning grants to organizations involved in the abortion business, even though a majority of Minnesotans opposes abortion on demand. A bill to change this horrible use of our tax dollars needs your support in the upcoming legislative session.
The Taxpayers Protection Act would protect Minnesotans from being forced to fund the abortion industry. Any organization that promotes, provides or refers people for abortions would be ineligible for state family planning grants under the Taxpayer Protection Act. This reasonable, mainstream legislation would not reduce the amount of state family planning grants, but only redirect them to qualifying clinics and providers.
Itís time for the state of Minnesota to get out of the abortion business, and stop forcing Minnesota taxpayers to support this for profit business. We could use this money to support our schools and many other social programs, which have seen reduced funding in the past year. Please call now and tell your state official to support the Taxpayers Protection Act.
