From NB Area Schools

North Branch resident Chuck Lindau died last week from injuries he received in a serious accident March 8.

Lindau, who had worked for many years as a substitute bus and van driver for the North Branch school district, had been in intensive care since the accident.

March 8 brought a surprise snowstorm that caused hundreds of accidents in the metropolitan area. Lindau was returning to North Branch after dropping off a special education student at a regularly attended program in the Twin Cities.

The district van he was driving was involved in a 3-vehicle accident near Hugo on I-35E.

Lindau was taken to Regions Medical Center in St. Paul immediately following the
accident where he remained until he died Friday, March 19.

ěChuck loved the kids and his fellow drivers,î said transportation director Bill Burton.

ěHe was a dedicated and dependable part of the district transportation department. Even though Chuck was a substitute driver, he was here almost every day filling in,î Burton said. ěHe loved what he did and it showed. He will be greatly missed.î
