To the editor:
May 10, 2004, the full Senate voted to kill mourning doves in Minnesota for the first time since 1946.ÝIt will be good for business, especially Cabellas chimed one Senator.ÝIt will not be good for the dovesÝthat will be sacrificed for this senseless target practice.ÝIt will not be good for Minnesotans who love to see these beautiful birds.Ý Nothing was said about lead poisoning that will now affect us.ÝAll the Senators and Governor Pawlenty were notified several times about the danger of lead poisoning and how it kills doves and other birds that capture and eat the injured doves.Ý Eagles, hawks, owls will die from lead poisoning.ÝWe are all poorer today because of this senseless bill.
