Laverne Irene Hawkinson, the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle (Thundstrom) Munson, was born at Rush City on July 23, 1923. She was of Swedish descent.
A long time resident of Harris, Laverne died May 8, 2004 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City, having reached the age of 80 years.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and Tony Deets of Silverdale, Wash., Cheryl and Steve Bistodeau of North Branch and Nola and Dennis Lofboom of Scandia, Minn., nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law: Muriel and Carroll Ramberg of Rush City; her brother: Allen Munson of Harris, Minn.; and her sister-in-law: Joyce Thunstrom of North Branch. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Myrtle Munson; her husband, Russell; a sister, Shirley Stafstrom; and a brother, Vernon Thunstrom.
Funeral service as at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at First Lutheran Church in Harris with the Reverend Michael Likens officiating. Organist was Carolyn Holmstrom and soloist was Jon Ekstrom. Honorary casket bearers were members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #139 of Harris. Casket bearers were Ralph Carlson, Keith Falk, Ken Holmstrom, Allen Ramberg, Cliff Ramberg, and Frank Dike. Interment was at the Dale Free Church Cemetery in Stark.
Arrangements were by Olson Chapel, Funeral and Cremation Service, Rush City.
