Prom was safe and fun event

To the editor:
North Branchís 2004 Prom, held at ìCourtyards of Andoverî was a great success. There are many people to thank for pulling off an event with such finesse and elegance. ìGarden of Dreamsî was truly a memorable evening.
To begin with, Junior Class Advisors: Megan MacKenzie, Mindy Swanson, Adam Lamoureux, and Dan Campbell volunteered many hours of their time fundraising, organizing meetings, supervising and setting up Grand March, purchasing props, chaperoning the dance, and countless other details to make the event run smoothly.
Senior high custodians Karen McCorkle, Arlan Schlipp, Charlie Johnson, Margaret Hughes, and Jean Ortega were a great help during set up, photographs, and clean up from Grand March. It makes a lot of extra work for them and they are always pleasant and helpful from the start to the end of the event.
Pat Brain was the m.c. and she has graciously and skillfully hosted the event for many years. Ms. Brain is a high school English teacher that does a lovely job of making sure that each student is introduced in a timely and professional manner.
Chaperones for the dance that volunteered to help the junior class advisors for this event included: Kristen Hetland, Matt Lattimore, Terri Craig, Sara Milligan, Dawn and James Paulson, Georgia Deigel and Neil Fletcher. In addition there were two officers including our own Officer Wayne Schwalbe.
This year the Grand March was one hour and 10 minutes long and was a full gym presentation. The advisors and students used creativity and vision in transforming the gymnasium into a beautiful ìGarden of Dreams.î Thanks to friends and family that stayed seated to watch all of the Grand March couples display their finest apparel. Next year there will also be a full gym Grand March.
Junior Class Officers stepped to the plate and worked very hard to prepare and setup the Grand March for Prom. There were dedicated students that took on the responsibility and stress of making the dance special: 1. Eddie Meier 2. Jessica Washenberger 3. Jenny Stenberg and 4. Nick Sausen Clean up was completed by the Sophomore Class Advisors: Tomi Swanson and Jon Sarago and class officers: Travis Peterson, Betsy Hammer, Jake Smith, and Matt Warren. Carol Baumann helped with cleanup and also was the treasurer that kept the finances straight and paid all of the bills for Prom.
There were many students that volunteered to help with Grand March setup and clean up and we thank each and every one of you for your efforts and enthusiasm. There were over 45 students that helped with setup and clean up!
The dinner and dance were a success! îCourtyards of Andoverî is a facility that served excellent food in a timely manner. The site was decorated to fit with the theme: îGarden of Dreams.î After a night of dining and dancing, the staff at Andover complimented North Branch students as being courteous and well behaved. Great Job North Branch High School!
Next yearís Prom will be held at Majestic Oaks Country Club in the main ballroom on Saturday, May 14, 2005. If you have any positive comments or suggestions for Prom, please e-mail prom coordinators Kelly Coleman or Deb Esmay at the high school Web site. We appreciate your partnership in making this a safe and fun event.
